THE TELEPHONE PIONEER

FAMILY CAMPERS of VIRGINIA

The Telephone Pioneer Camping club was formed in 1982 by a group of pioneers that wanted to enjoy fellowship and fun together. The "founding fathers" of the organization were Tommy Reekes, Eva Lewis, Doug Helm and Jim Glass. Tommy was the motivator and got everyone else involved.

The camping club continues to meet today, usually once a  each month with a planned campout  in the Mid Atlantic area beginning in April and continuing throughout the year ending with a Christmas Dinner. We try to host at least a one or two week outing in the summer months. There is all ways great fellowship; lots of chat and of course there is  lots of good home cooked food. Each outing is hosted by a selected wagon master who has the responsibility for making the arrangements. So as soon as everyone arrives the fun begins! Last year,, we managed trips to Williamsburg VA,. Washington D.C., Cass, West Virginia, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, New England fall foliage for two months, Urbana VA, Then ended the year with Christmas at Powatan , VA. We have a great time no matter where we go.

We would like for you to join us, the membership is open to everyone. Each family pays annual dues of $10.00 to cover the cost of mail outs and food supplied on some of the outing, along with a club directory of all members.
